The Room

The room is a speculative design installation dealing with future technologies and our complete devotion to said technologies. We encourage visitors to engage with the prototypes we have built and think of the upside versus the downside of invasive technologies in their lives.
People visiting the exhibition were lead through by an automated system lighting up one of four stations for a set amount of time before moving on the next one. Throughout the exhibition, the visitors were invited to view the videos playing at each station portraying a fictional scenario in which the person shown has been using our prototype devices in their day to day life.

The project called once more for a lot of creative problem solving especially when it came to the exhibition. Mounting the projectors, setting up the timing for each station to cycle through and having the video, as well as the light, be at the same station at the same time took some fine-tuning.
Shown in the exhibition were four different fictional products for each we made a physical prototype and crafted a user with a use-case around them. Our goal was to show the fine (and blurry) line between technology being considered too invasive or extremely useful.
